Diabetes awareness and Stump management Camp at proVISION ASIA

11. August 2010 General 6

We at proVISION ASIA realized it was extremely important to spread awareness of diabetes to our clients when one of our very own staff Muniswamy, a victim of polio was recently diagnosed with Diabetes. The physically challenged are exposed to minimal or no exercise, therefore more prone to ailments such as diabetes. We spent over a week making preparations for the big day.
On the 7th of August we hosted a Free Diabetic screening camp at our office.  As much as one hundred and ten clients were present on that day. Esther, our physotherapist gave a presentation on Diabetic awareness and Stump management, she also emphasized on the importance of  diet and exercise. Later, the clients went through a screening process. More than 30percent were diagnosed with diabetes. This is what Rajamma, one of our client who is affected by polio and presently working packing industry had to say: “Diabetic awareness programs should be conducted more often especially for the disabled people in our community, so we could take precautions at an early stage.” “I thank proVISION ASIA for enlightening me on such a disease” says Nagesh another client who is also affected by polio.
proVISION ASIA is happy to inspire hope and provide an environment that fosters transformation. If you would like to get involved at our health camps please mail us at info@provisionasia.com.
